A project was carried out which focused on sharing RESDAL and Latin America’s experience of working in the field with other civil society organisations through two initial workshops, held in Panama and Argentina respectively. (Pictured: workshop in Panama)
A further three regional workshops were held throughout the course of the year in Liberia, Morocco and Malaysia in May, August and December respectively. (Pictured: regional workshop- MENA in Morocco)
In addition, a 4th workshop took place in Morrocco, related to Egypt and peacekeeping operations within the framework of the global programme.
A final cross-regional workshop was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; it was during this meeting, and the process leading up to it, that the interest to build a global community became evident.
Thereafter, another workshop which focused on the Women, Peace and Security agenda from Middle Eastern and Latin American perspectives was organised in Argentina. It offered participants the opportunity to visit various state institutions and fully immerse themselves in the Latin American experience.
A meeting took place in November in Berlin which laid the foundations for formally establishing the GPSP.
In December, a meeting was held to reinforce the working dynamic of the GPSP and being to plan for future projects.
Two newsletters were published.
Concrete work for the next project was started in February.
The 3rd newsletter of the series was launched at the start of the year.
